Getting Started with ShopSmith

ShopSmith is a local-first desktop application that helps Etsy digital product sellers prepare listings faster. This guide walks you through installation and your first listing.

1. Install ShopSmith

Download the latest release for your platform (Windows or macOS).
Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
Launch ShopSmith from your applications menu or desktop shortcut.

All data is stored locally on your machine. No account or cloud setup is required.

2. Add Source Files

Click New Product on the dashboard.
Drop your digital art source files (PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, etc.) into the import area.
ShopSmith will analyze each file and extract metadata for listing preparation.

3. Generate Listing Content

Once your sources are imported, ShopSmith can generate:

Listing photos — hero images and staged mockups sized for Etsy.
Titles, descriptions, and tags — AI-powered content optimized for Etsy search.
Quality audits — preflight checks for resolution, DPI, file size, and Etsy format constraints.

Review and approve all generated content before proceeding.

4. Export or Publish

When your listing is ready, you have two options:

Download Upload Kit — a ZIP bundle with sequenced images and organized files ready to upload manually to Etsy.
Guided Publish — a step-by-step workflow that walks you through copying content into Etsy's listing editor, with keyboard shortcuts and progress tracking.
